It operates through the following segments: Green Energy and Chemicals, Functional Chemicals and Others. The Green Energy and Chemicals segment manufactures and sells methanol, methanol and ammonia-based chemicals, life science products, general-purpose aromatic chemicals, specialty aromatic chemicals, foam plastics, and electricity. The Functional Chemicals segment manufactures and sells inorganic chemicals, plastic lens monomers, engineering plastics, electronic materials, oxygen absorbers, and other products. The Others segment includes real estate businesses. The company was founded on January 15, 1918 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
