- Description
- YLDY combines equity and options strategies to pursue its objectives of current income and capital appreciation. The equity strategy invests in dividend-paying securities, including common and preferred stocks, convertible debt, ADRs, REITs, and ETFs, primarily from US large-cap issuers. The options strategy, on the other hand, aims to generate income and manage volatility by selling call options on broad-based indices such as the S&P 500. Options utilized may be exchange-traded/FLEX or OTC. The fund employs a multi-disciplinary approach, analyzing factors such as profitability, earnings stability, price variability, and valuations. It also writes covered call options and cash-secured put options and may use spreads, straddles, and collars. The actively managed portfolio has a modest defensive tilt and is designed to perform differently across market conditions, potentially underperforming in strong up markets while aiming to provide relative stability in flat or down markets.
